Immigration Clinical Evaluations

DTE Wellness LLC provides compassionate, trauma-informed immigration clinical evaluations for adults located in New York and New Jersey. Evaluations are conducted by Dabeyri Torres-Estevez, LCSW a bilingual Licensed Clinical Social Worker, and are available in English and Spanish.

Each evaluation is approached with cultural sensitivity, respect, and careful attention to the ways trauma, abuse, separation, and migration experiences may affect emotional well-being and daily functioning.

Immigration evaluations are available in English or Spanish. Clients may describe their experiences in the language in which they feel most comfortable.

Types of Immigration Evaluations

How the Evaluation Process Works

Attorney Coordination

With the client’s written permission, DTE Wellness LLC communicates with the immigration attorney to confirm the type of case, clinical referral questions, relevant documents, and filing deadline.

Clinical Interviews

Most evaluations include two appointments lasting approximately 60 to 90 minutes each. Additional interview time may be necessary depending on the complexity of the case.

Clients may take breaks, ask questions, and move through difficult subjects at a manageable pace. The evaluation is trauma-informed, but it is not an ongoing therapy service.

Records and Clinical Measures

Relevant records are reviewed when available. Culturally and linguistically appropriate mental health measures may also be used when clinically indicated. These measures are considered alongside the client’s history, functioning, behavioral presentation, and other available information.

Written Report

A comprehensive written report is prepared after the interviews and record review are completed. Depending on the referral questions, the report may describe the client’s history, current symptoms, clinical findings, diagnoses when supported, functional difficulties, treatment needs, and relevant clinical opinions.

Factual Review and Delivery

The client and immigration attorney may identify factual errors, missing information, or legal terminology that requires clarification. Diagnoses, interpretations, and clinical opinions remain the independent professional judgment of the evaluator.

After the factual review is completed, the signed report is securely provided to the client and immigration attorney.
